Assisted Living
Assisted Living communities usually offer individual apartments for the senior, along with organized activities and communal areas for the residences to interact with each other. Usually the apartment has a kitchen but there is also a dining hall where the senior may pay a fee to share in either all or some of the meals. There are group exercise and social activities and transportation shuttles to community shopping and events. Some assisted living facilities offer caregivers who are available for an additional cost and others will refer the residents to caregiving agencies. Some assisted living facilities offer a more involved care option similar to full nursing care found in a nursing home. At the same time, some assisted living facilities want to maintain a community of active seniors and will assist residents to move out to a nursing facility when more care is required.
