101: The Basics for Newly Diagnosed Parkinson's Disease Patients and Their Families
Meets weekly for 6 sessions. Dates and times vary. Please call 312/503-4397 for more information.
Join recently-diagnosed patients and their families. Learn the fundamentals of Parkinson's disease. Each session examines a different aspect of Parkinson's disease:
- Week 1: The Defining Features of Diagnosis, and Learning to Live with PD
- Week 2: Major Parkinson's Medications
- Week 3: Newer Medications and “Alternative” Medicine
- Week 4: Exercise
- Week 5: Speech, Swallowing, and Nutrition
- Week 6: Practical Pointers and Helpful Products and Resources

Center for Older Adults
The Center for Older Adults at Fourth Presbyterian Church (open to all faiths), offers adult education classes, exercise programs, artistic development programs, and lunch-and-learn presentations every Tuesday and Thursday (seniors bring their own sack lunch). The center is located at Michigan Avenue and Chestnut Street, across from the John Hancock building in downtown Chicago.
The Center offers a Gerontoloical Nurse Practitioner and schedules group outings.
