These communities offer seniors a full range of living options, from individual townhomes to apartments to rooms with full nursing care. Some of these communities require a large down payment which might be equivalent to nearly the sale price of a senior's home. However, the senior is then guaranteed a "continuum of care" for the rest of their life, with the benefit of having independent living in an apartment with access to a health club, dining hall and activities while having the security of knowing a nursing facility will be available without requiring relocation, if needed.
