Caregiver Spotlight
Sonya Kanady
Sonya works with a client who is rehabilitating after a spinal cord injury.
How long have you worked for Chicagoland Caregivers?
I have been with Chicagoland Caregivers since March, 2004.
What did you do prior to working with Chicagoland Caregivers?
I worked as a private duty caregiver, and worked at a nursing home and assisted family members with caregiving.
Sonya has worked with several of our clients and has managed to make a huge positive impact on their lives. Sonya is originally from Belize and studied Fashion Design in Guatemala. She moved to the US in 1982 and after working with her father, who had a stroke, she decided to get into nursing. She plans to continue on with her nursing degree, once her son has finished school. She finds caregiving fulfilling because she loves helping others and likes learning from them. Her interests are cooking and spending time with her husband and son, who is a freshman in college and for the past 2 years, has been a champion in track and field.
Congratulations Sonya on all of your hard work and dedication!!
