Ethel Dorsey & Janel Tranmer


Ethel Dorsey

What made you interested in working as a Caregiver?
I cared for my Grandmother and am also a people person that likes doing hands-on things and helping others.

How long have you worked for Chicagoland Caregivers?
2 years and 1 month. I currently do live-in with a client that I have been with since October 2004.

What did you do prior to working with Chicagoland Caregivers?
I worked in Collections and Administrative positions.

What do you find most challenging about being a caregiver?
I love the feeling of accomplishment when I help others and like the bonds that are developed between myself and the clients.

What are your interests, when not working?
Singing, reading, attending Church and spending time with my 3 grandchildren.

What are your plans for the future?
To continue helping other, become a homeowner and have rental properties.


Janel Tranmer

What made you interested in working as a Caregiver?
I enjoy the Elderly, used to spend a lot of time growing up with my Great Grandmother, and wanted to see how the Insurance that I sell to clients is implemented.

How long have you worked for Chicagoland Caregivers?
I have been with Chicagoland Caregivers for 2 years and 9 months and currently do live-in with a client that I have been with since June 2004.

What did you do prior to working with Chicagoland Caregivers?
I sold Insurance and currently am an Insurance Broker when not working here.

What is an interesting story/situation about a client through us?
The most memorable thing I have done with my client is take photos of everything we do and everywhere we go together, since he has Alzheimer's, and over the years, we have accumulated 3 photo albums full of pictures for him to look at.

What do you find most challenging about being a caregiver?
Communicating all of the necessary information to the right people (the office, other caregivers, family members).

What do you find most rewarding about being a caregiver?
I love working with my client and enjoy being able to make him laugh and to help him enjoy life daily.

What are your interests, when not working?
I enjoy spending time with my friends and doing Insurance.

What are your plans for the future?
I want to remain with my client as long as possible and continue to build my Insurance business.
