Caregiver Spotlight

April Cavazos

April joined Chicagoland Caregivers in July, 2005, and continues to work with her originally assigned client as a live-in caregiver.

April moved to Chicago from Texas, where she grew up, 7 months ago. Prior to working with Chicagoland Caregivers, she worked at a group home for the disabled and at a children's day care.

She helped care for her Grandparents when she was younger and this lead to her seeking a job in caregiving. She finds the work very rewarding and feels like she is doing something important in life.

April finds the most difficult aspect of caregiving is to remind yourself what the client is going through and to learn to respect them and their situation. The most rewarding aspect of caregiving is getting to know the client and their family members and being accepted by them. Her favorite memory about her client is when they went to see a Frank Sinatra impersonator and her client opened up about her life and how she was formerly a dancer and enjoyed dancing the jitterbug. April is currently enrolled in school to get her Bachelor's degree in Theatre. When she is not working or attending school or studying, she likes to watch movies.

Thank you April for all of your hard work and dedication!!!!
