Caregiver Spotlight

Janet Keippel

What made you interested in working as a Caregiver?
I have a friend that is in her 90's and I really like and admire her and thought it would be so nice to be able to help others like her. I also admire & respects the Elderly.

How long have you worked for Chicagoland Caregivers?
Since September '05. I currently work an hourly assignment on the weekends and do fill-in's when needed.

What did you do prior to working with Chicagoland Caregivers?
I currently work at K-Mart part-time and also worked at other retail establishments previously.

What do you find most challenging about being a caregiver?
Being able to determine others needs/wants when they can't always communicate them. Also being able to recognize that everyone is different and being able to adapt to their style/needs.

What do you find most rewarding about being a caregiver?
Knowing that by doing even the smallest things, that I am helping someone.

What are your interests, when not working?
Raised a family, spending time with them, going to the park, beach, outside for walks, reading books and watching old movies.

What are your plans for the future?
To do as much as I possibly can for the Elderly.

Congratulations Janet on all of your hard work and dedication!!
