What made you interested in working as a Caregiver?
I have been interested in caregiving my whole life. As a teenager, I took care of my grandmother and Uncle. In my opinion, "Caregiving is a gift from God".

How long have you been with Chicagoland Caregivers?
I have been with Chicagoland Caregivers for a little over a year and have worked all the various shifts, live-in, hourly, and overnights, and am currently working a five-day live-in shift.

What did you do before coming to Chicagoland Caregivers?
In 2003, I moved from Mississippi to Illinois to help take care of my Aunt. I decided to stay in Chicago and obtained my C.N.A. from Kennedy King College .

What is an interesting story/situation about a client through us?
The main one I can think of is one of her favorite clients who has just recently passed away. I would sit up with her at night and read or sing poems to her to calm her down.

What do you find most challenging about being a caregiver?
Having patience- it helps me to "hold my peace" everyday.

What do you find most rewarding about being a caregiver?
By having patience, I "receive a blessing from God"; which is the "joy of helping someone feel comfortable".

What are your interests, when not working?
I am an active member in my church. I work very hard and am proud to help maintain a good Christian background for my twelve grandchildren. The best way to describe me is: "what you see is what you get."
