Caregiver Spotlight
Katie Hogan

What made you interested in working as a Caregiver?
I had just moved here to Chicago and saw the advertisement in the newspaper and thought it would be an interesting job.
How long have you worked for Chicagoland Caregivers?
I have worked for Chicagoland Caregivers since October, 2004. I currently work on an hourly assignment with a client from Monday through Friday. I have been with this same client since I started working with Chiacagoland Caregivers (Katie just celebrated her 1.5 year anniversary with this client!)
What did you do prior to working with Chicagoland Caregivers?
I graduated from college after majoring in Art and then moved home for the summer. I then decided to move to Chicago because a lot of my friends are here.
What do you find most challenging about being a caregiver?
I find helping client through difficult times, such as when they lose friends and family members to death, to be a challenge.
What do you find most rewarding about being a caregiver?
I enjoy getting to know clients and their friends and family members, listening to clients stories about their pasts and being able to recognize people from those stories and experiences.
What are your interests, when not working?
Art, Freelance Illustration, Volleyball (she plays volleyball and is also a referee and instructor)
What are your plans for the future?
I will be moving to the northside of Chicago sometime this summer and am excited to start a new internship at a Glass Blowing studio, in an effort to pursue my art career more.
Congratulations Katie on all of your hard work and dedication!!
